European Cultural Centre in Aachen
Resticted COMPETITION in 2 phases, Honorable Mention

We propose to enclose the urban block with the administration building and to create a sculptural freestanding exhibition building, which is connected to the administration facilities through a transparent link which inhabits the staircase. The Europaen Cultural Centre is contextual and autonomous.

We propose, to construct the exhibition building by layering different structures inside one volume. The European Cultural Centre thereby is various and uniform at the same time.

The entrance hall and the exhibition levels are forming five levels. These are designed in a alteration of open halls and level-high construction systems. The diversity of spatial situation meets the diversity of constructural systems. The European Cultural Centre is formed by a natural setting inside the historical context as well as by an ambitious construction system, which provides openness and density, various spatial qualities and communicative potentials.
